Respected Madam,

Respected sir,

I am student of CEPT. I am doing Masters degree in structre design. My thesis is on cost efficiency of Shear walls in low rise buildings for Zone III, IV and V.  I want to ask you that IS 1893-2002 says that moment Resisting frame should be designed atleast 25% of lateral force in frame wall system. I want to know that from where actually 25% comes, becuse during the review of my thesis Jurie members asked me this question. They also want me to find out what the other countries are taking. Actually from where 25% had come. Is there any experimental or theoritical back ground on taking 25% of lateral force or from other codes we have taken that.

now i am doing thesis on "eqrthquake resistant multystorey building using
shear wall with ETABS".
