You may be familiar with an important publication of the International Association for Earthquake Engineering (IAEE) entitled, “Guidelines for Earthquake Resistant Non-Engineered Construction.” This publication provides in simple language the basics of earthquake safety features for new buildings and repair and retrofitting of old buildings.
A soft copy of this manual is available at NICEE web site: www.nicee.org. Also, after the Gujarat earthquake of 2001, the ACC Ltd had printed copies for free distribution. The National Information Centre of Earthquake Engineering (NICEE) has now published a Hindi translation of the above manual. Interested persons may request a free copy by sending full postal address to: firstname.lastname@example.org
