Dear All:
In construction practice, are two (or more) different grades of steel used
at the same time in a single structure or a structural component?
I ask this because, at least theoretically, it seems there is no problem or
restriction on that.
Now, if it is allowed to use two grades of steel at the same time, for
example in a beam, which is a better option: 1) use higher grade steel for
longitudinal reinforcement, and 2) use higher grade steel for transverse
reinforcement? (Here, assume all grades of steel have a minimum of 14.5%
elongation capacity, etc.). IS:456 or IS:13920 does not say anything on
this!
With regards..
