Dear Engineer,

I have just a glance at your file...and i have some doubts in it..

Why you have provided hinges at some distance in staad, is there any column or support there? it is not clear from the drawing you have attached.

Regards

Dear Eng Purti
Few engineering specifier's comments

  1. Main steel within beams @ top & bottom shown
  2. What about temperature steel?
  3. Depth being 800/1000 mm
  4. Additional steel on sides should be provided
  5. Use 8T bars for stirrups not 6T
  6. C20 concrete is not worth for structures in such cases.
  7. Use M 30 GGBS with 70% replacement or PFA with 40% replacement
  8. Define temperature controls
  9. Term 'Technique requirement' is seen first time on drawing
  10. Use 'Notes' rather this term
  11. Tamping is not suitable, use compacted
  12. Write levels in M & dimensions in mm UNO (unless noted otherwise)
  13. Anchor steel should be Tangs & not concrete iron
  14. Concrete to be cast monolithic
  15. Define what types of spacers required
  16. many others noted but not indicated

Suggest to use professional terminology on designs
Writing should be brief but clear
No essays are required

Dear Sir,

I have refered your suggesions on drawing. As I have not made drawing, will convey all suggesions to consultant who have made the drawing.

But my Design approach for the same is correct or not?

Kindly give your valuable guideline only on design approach.

Regards,
Purti

Hi ,

thanks.

How are you?

There are no columns over pin supports,

but base plates are provided to fit steel frame above beams and reactions are also transefring from base plate.

I am also confused about the supports.

Should we have to provide that supports?

Regards,
Purti

Dear Engineer,

I think your interpritation of the problem is not correct in my view,

As you said that there is no column supporting the beams, but they will be fixed above the beam, so that thay are supported on beam , and you have considered it as support, rather they will apply load on beam.

And in your system it looks like that beam need to be designed for point loads and moments if any, from the above base plates, beam is resting on soil so that sbc need to be checked for the supporting area like footing.

Dear Engineer,

I have already seen your scanned copy calculations,

Thats why i have said that u have interpreted it wrongly,

In scanned copy also you have considered footing area equal to whole slab and

beam base area how it is possible.

And you are asking to consider four support at four ends,

By providing support in staad doesnt solve your problem, if you want to provide four

support then you need to provide four column at four ends. and accordingly analyse it,

Your vendor drawing is not clear so i could not suggest the alternative.
