Dear All:
We have posted a survey questionnaire on the SEFI home page. It refers to queries regarding need of a Tall building code for India and what type of code is preferred. Please go to the home page and participate in the survey. It will go a long way in helping stakeholders decide on the Issue of a Tall Buildings Code.
The survey can also be accessed via this link http://goo.gl/eyPkm

Dear Sir,
What loadings should one take on a building slab to take care of
moving 4 wheelers?

There is no doubt in our mind that the positive response
would be nearly 100% for the proposal to have a new code for tall buildings
Now, it is necessary to initiate a plan that could force the
notoriously slow BIS
to react. As those associated with BIS know that in order to goad
them, a first draft
must be prepared by an organization and presented to BIS to start the
ball rolling.
University of Roorkee [as was then known] presented such a draft for
all earthquake related codes upto 1984 version and the IS:1893 version
of 2002. IIT-Kanpur prepared first draft of several other topics like
water towers, stacklike structure, etc
In the case of steel code, IIT-Madras prepared the latest version.
Experts of IIT-Chennai may co-ordinate a consortium of experts from
other IIT's to prepare the first version of tall building code by
apportioning the chapters.
It is a love of labour and i hope some would volunteer for this good cause
