Giant doughnut skyscraper completed in China
This massive doughnut-shaped building was recently completed in Guangzhou, China. It was designed by Italian architect Joseph di Pasquale and constructed on the edge of the Pearl River. The design is meant to reflect in the river creating a figure-eight or an infinity sign – both powerful symbols in Chinese culture.
The skyscraper stands 33 stories tall and has a 50-meter wide gaping hole in the center. The front and rear of the structure appear solid and round but sandwiched in the middle are glass cubes of working space for the two plastics companies that will occupy the building.
