Dear friends,
I am designing TL tower in STAAD Pro...The leg members of the towers are passing but all the redundant members fail due to the criteria of minimum thickness. some of my redundant and bracings are 45x30x4 L Angle sections.. I am using IS 802 code of practice to design is staad pro.. I am selecting the GALVA1 option in design parameters but even then i get the redundant members failing.. Technically speaking the Kl/r ratio for the redundant members are withing permissible limits ( <250).. Pls help me with this

Dear Er Hari,

If your software has a min. Thickness criteria in built in it, you can either ignore the failing of such redundant bracings or do not include them in the analysis.

Best wishes,
NS

Dear Dr.N.Subramanian
Thanks a lot for your speedy reply sir..Actually the problem was with the KL/r criteria in the design parameters.. Now I could make the sections pass.. Thanks again for your reply sir....
