Dear Sefians
please guide for following case.
in case of corner footings , for design of footing beam, what will be the UDL to be considered.
a) Shall it be the total footing load divided by ( L+B)
b) of shall it be the total footing load divided by ( lesser of L & B)
please guide

to calculate the area of footing simply divide the column reaction by sbc.
to calculate one way punching shear calculate it for both derection sepatately.

Dear SAFIAN,
A similar design of corner column footing without considering moment is attached for reference. It is my design only not from any text book. However you can refer Limit state design by U.H.Variyani for edge footing for reference.

Dear Srinivasan,
The footing projection length is arrived as below:
The diagonal length of footing= Sqrt 2x(1.5x1.5)=2.12m
Projection of footing slab= 2.12-0.35/2=0.885m.
Thank you for your quarry.

Dear Rajan sir
Thank you very much for your Reply
Why you have not checked one way shear of footing any way it is safe against one way shear. But procedure missed. Two way shear need not check since strap beam is there. You have already mentioned this is your design only. I request you to provide explanation how Transfer this footing load to adjutant footing, If you have interest
Regards
N.Srinivasan

Er.Srinivasan,
It is a cantilever with load acting from bottom to top direction. Hence, naturally, the tension will be at the bottom and so is the tension reinforcement.
Dear Rajan Sir,
I am afraid, due to the huge eccentric placing of the column on the footing ( column being in the corner), the bottom soil pressure distribution will not be uniform, as expected, notwithstanding the stiffener beam. It is possible that the diagonally opposite corner develop tension on soil.

Dear SEFIans,
A footing with corner column provided with stiffener beam, as indicated by Rajan Sir is analysed using plate mat support in STAAD. The base pressure diagram (enclosed) indicates tension towards the away corner, beyond the transverse diagonal.
