|
|
SIR,
WE HEREBY ATTACHING MX AND MY MOMENTS (VALUES )OF MAT FOUNDATION ANALYSED IN SOFTWARE.
THICKNESS OF MAT IS 350 MM IN STAAD. THE POSITION OF COLUMN IN ALSO GIVEN IN AUTO CAD FILE ATTACHED HEREWITH. THE MAT FOUNDATION IS TO BE PROVIDED FOR RESIDENCE G+1
UNFACTORED COLUMN LOADS ARE ALSO ATTACHED
WE REQUIRE HOW TO PROVIDE STEEL DETAILS IN THIS MAT FOR MX AND MY VALUES.
IF POSSIBLE PLEASE PROVIDE SKETCH TO UNDERSTAND IT.
WE REQUES ALL SEFIANS TO GIVE VIEW THEIR AS IT HELPS TO UNDERSTAND BETTER

Dear Er.Rajesh,
First of all check the thickness with respect to strength and stability and deflection aspect.
As a rough guide the main reinforcement is for Mx and the the reinforcement in other direction -say Z axis as per STAAD is from My.
Usually the reinforcement for Mat is in two layers-Top & Bottom layers. Use the STAADFOUNDATION software which will aid u in the detailing.
If u send the STAAD file and the bearing capacity of soil may be possible to check and provide the details.
In general best practice is use another software or do check manually to check the correctness of the input and out put from STAADPRO.
Er.T.Rangarajan.

Dear Er Rangarajan Sir,
I have to differ with you regarding your last post.
For an FE analysis, the local x and y axes of each element depend on the meshing orientation. In STAAD, Mx refers to the moment causing stress in the local x direction of the element.
Er Rajesh,
In order to find the reinforcement required at any location, find Mx, My and Mxy for that location. Combine Mx/ My with Mxy using the Wood-Armer equations, and provide reinforcement for the same.
For provided reinforcement, find concrete shear strength, and check against shear stress.

sir,
for this particular case we have already given moment diagaram, column location., and moment values and aixal loads.
All we need to know that how to do detailing for this particular case...
whether it will be singly reinforced or doubly...
steel will required in top or bottom and where to curtail....
please guide with respect to above points.....

Dear Er Rajesh,
The STAAD sign convention defines positive moments as those creating tension at the top of the element. See the help file for more details. Be warned that the top of the element might not be the top of the raft, and depending on how you have meshed the structure, you could end up with opposite element directions adjacent to one another.
Find the element normal direction in order to identify which is the top surface.
