Dear all,

As per clause 8.2.2.1 of IS-800-2007 the torsional constant is sum(b*t^3/3). but this is mentioned for Open section.

Please tell me what shall value may i take for box section (closed section)? I am currently designing a Ring girder where i intend to use Box section to minimize torsion.

Thanks in Advance,
Sasindran S
