While designing a structure using STAAD pro, if we model the slab as plates... the beams get divided into 1m long beams... also the STAAD design of beams shows the requirement of torsional reinforcement (under seismic loads)... will it be correct to provide torsional reinforcement as side face bars even though the depth is less than 600mm...

Hi
As per my understanding you don't need to provide torsional reinforcement to beam which supports slab but if any secondary beam is connecting to primary beam then it may create torsion in primary beam & primary beam will need torsional reinforcement to avoid torsion.
