Is it possible to use two different grades of rebars say, Fe500D & Fe600 or Fe500D & Fe550D in a structural member?

If yes, then what precautions need to be taken?

hi
I guess we can use different grade structural steel but for different members and individual properties need to be assigened properly during analysis.
As for rebars a single section whether its a column, beam etc cannot use 2 different grade steel. If such provision is to be made some factor need to be calculated and depend how much % for individual grade you are planning to use.

I guess it may also create confusion during site works.

Experts may answer to this well.

A lower grade steel will achieve its stress limits earlier than higher grade of steel e.g. lower grade of steel will yield before the higher grade steel .. making higher grade of steel inefficient. A standard design procedure needs all elements e.g. concrete and steel achieve its stress limits simultaneously.
