Hi Radhikande, C/C++ are the basics of any programming language if you know basics of coding you can upgrade your self C sharp, Which is easier & most used now a days & before going for C sharp i will recommend you to learn VBA, (platform available in excel no need for any additional installation )

Mostly civil/Structural Engineer use Excel to Analyze data & to carry out design so it will be handy & makes your life simple & interesting.

if you need books on Excel VBA just send me your mail ID to Malleshnenkat@gmail.com i will share few Excel VBA books

Happy learning

Regards

Earlier, all Finite Element programs were written in FORTRAN -- for example, STAAD-III was originally written in Lahey Fortran.

ANSYS people once told me that they would have written it in C++, if it ran at least half the speed of Fortran (of Vector FORTRAN, I suppose). That was sometime at the end of the last decade, if i remember correctly.

But now I learn that almost the whole of OpenSEES FE framework was written in C++. That means C++ does have future in scientific programming. Not sure about commercial FE programs as of now
