I presume there are engineers like me in this forum who are not conversant with STAAD.PRO operation.

But I am sure there are experts available in this forum who are quite conversant with STAAD.PRO.
For benefit of novices like me, Will somebody write step by step method of operating STAAD.PRO right from model generation, loading and design.

Example of a building  will suffice.

Any volunteer ?!

Please  come forward.

I know it is time consuming and requires considerable efforts.

Still I am hopeful that somebody will come forward.

Dear Er. Mallick,

If you consider only building design, i prefer you to go for ETABS, rather than STAAD Pro. Staad pro is powerful, but, not user friendly and time consuming and its super easy to make mistakes while doing analysis. and also you will be tired of "errors and warnings" even if you are at intermediate level.

ETABS is very much user friendly, and quiet easy to model and analyse, and also, not much effort is required to learn the software.

Dear Er Mathew,
While I agree that ETABS is more user friendly compared to STAAD Pro, please also make sure to note that there are also a few advantages of STAAD over ETABS. For example,
1. Input file of STAAD is easy to print and check (easier for cross-checking).
2. Default design in ETABS assumes Ductile detailing. Even when you change all elements in model for Ordinary detailing, new members added in teh model will be designed for ductile detailing.
3. Column design will be considered safe up to 6%. Though code allows it but recommends restricting to 4%, there is no option to modify the limit.
4. In all government offices, STAAD model will be accepted for checking. Not sure about ETABS.

I am not saying that I advocate STAAD over ETABS - I am just recommending that we should learn whichever software we choose thoroughly before full fledged usage in practice.

Yours sincerely
S Arunkumar
