Dear Sefians,
Now that we have IS 1893 Part 1: 2016 and IS 13920:2016, it would have been better if BIS would have released explanatory Guideline or Code Commentary and illustrative examples based on them.
Though GSDMA Draft codes and commentary are there, some of the provisions given in the newly released codes are different from those in the draft codes and hence it is desirable that commentary and examples are also prepared.
Furthermore, because of the changes in the code, examples given in RCC books now need revision, especially pertaining to RC Shear Walls. In this regard, I would like to request Dr. N. Subramanian to share revised version of design example on shear wall. Of course, we will be eagerly waiting for revised version of his book on Limit State Design of Reinforced Concrete.
with best regards,
Aditya

Dear Er Aditya,

Sorry. I could not respond quickly as I was engaged in the writing of my book Building Materials, Testing and Sustainability, which ha been published recently by Oxford University Press [See: https://india.oup.com/contentlisting?subjectSeriesPath=6755059&subjectSeriesCode=N.+Subramanian&listingType=Author&start=0]

Regarding your question on shear wall design based on IS 13920:2016, I request you to refer to the excellent paper published by Prof. Devdas Menon and his students in the July 2019 issue of the Indian Concrete Journal.
