Respected sefians:

1)    In staad pro while design column, there will be some provision to arrange reinforcement in design parameters:
          1.  2 face distribution in major axis
          2.  2 face distribution in minor axis
          3.   longitudinal reinforcement in column along 4 faces.
Like wise is there any provision in ETABS.

2) In ETABS while defining column properties, in "frame section property reinforcement data" dialog box  what values have to fill in "longitudinal bars". If i change values like

  1. No of longitudinal bars along 3 direction face
  2. No of longitudinal bars along 2 direction face
  3. Longitudinal bar size and area
  4. corner bar size and area.

If i change any of the value there will be variation in column longitudinal reinforcement.

What is the correct procedure to design column in ETABS.  Please thorough some lights in this topic.

Thanking you,
With regards,
N.Elakkiyarajan.

If user wants to check the reinforcements provided by him/her is adequate or not, then user Needs to select "Reinforcements to be checked" option (refer your attached screenshot). in this case user needs to be specify number of bars in both the direction.

& when User wants ETABS to design the Column(reinforcement), then You need not change any data in that section (of number of bars along 2-2 or 3-3 or number of bars)

Er. Aatif sir
Thanks for your reply sir.
I understand what you said sir. But my doubt is "we didn't need to change that number of bars, while designing. Then why reinforcement percentage may  varies hugely, if we change those values, then how to fix reinforcement provision in major and minor axis, like in staad pro.
