Dear Sefians,
Attached plan shows the proposed 100' DIYANAMANDAPM IN MY PROJECT SITE. i need steel design experts to offer a guide to design the roof with wide flange beam + connection details.
In the plan I proposed 8 R.C.C. columns but can add another 8 so that there will be good structural safe system.
Any suggestion and guidance will be highly appreciated.
Hope Dr.Subramaniam can offer some guidance.
Thanks in advance.

I used STAADPRO software to design in which I get a wide flange beam of 450mm depth. With the preliminary sizing a depth of 0.6span will be near to this.
Since the half span inclined at 11.3 degree has a length of about 45'6" which is above the standard available length of 6m (20'). So I need to get details how to join to get the required length.
Also since the eves height is 20' and the center is 29' how to erect the assembly..
Guidance will be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Dear Rangarajan Sir,
I am not a steel design expert but I will suggest somethings, hope you find them useful.
Can you provide a parallel chord truss? Red marked truss in attached sketch will be main truss resting directly on column and blue truss will be resting on column at one end and on main truss on other end.
Regards

Dear Er.tosifsayyed,
Thanks for your valuable suggestion. Had such an idea but the problem is fabrication takes time and consumes more workmanship. So let us think of using simple I section as used in portal frame. Let us explore on this option.
Expect and waiting Dr.Subramaniam or others to shed more guidance ,
Thanks.

Dear Er Rangarajan,
Hope you are doing good and staying safe and healthy.
I am enclosing a paper which may be useful to you.
You may use plane trusses as the main elements connecting the top ring beam and bottom ring beam. Connect these trusses transversly using I beams. In this way connections can be made simple.
Warm regards
Subramanian

Dear Er Rangarajan
Thank you for your wishes and info. In USA only some states which are ruled by Republican Governors stay at home orders are not given. In many states it is stay at home and whoever is able to work from home are working from home only. We are confined to our homes.
Regarding your structure, since the span is relatively
small compared to the dome in our paper, instead of trusses, you can also try I beams or castellated beams.
Warm regards
Subramanian
