How to calculate crack depth? As that is not mentioned in IS 456. Can anyone pls recommend me any author, article, or book related to this topic? And also pls help me with crack propagation due to repetitive live load (not cyclic load).

Dear Er Ravipratap

Usually researchers are interested in crack width and spacing and would like to restrict the crack width to code limits. It is because the width will be wider at the surface and will reduce as it goes inside the section. The extent of crack may be got from the neutral axis depth- this will provide info at the limit state and not during working loads.

More details may be found in the works of Prof Beeby and Dr
Bamforth.

Best wishes
Subramanian
