Anyone, please a suggestion here??
In the 5th revision of seismic code IS.1893, the Response Reduction Factor (R) for masonry with horizontal bands is set at 2.5 (table 7 on page 23).
In the most recent 6th revision of 2016 however, (R) for masonry with bands is more conservatively reduced to 2.0 (table 9 on page 20).

Obviously there must be a reason for this, does anyone have any idea what the figures in this table are based on?
Is it based on rules of thumb?
Or is it based on actual calculations?
Does anyone know who worked on this; who should I approach that was involved in writing this code?
