Dear Sefians,


Greetings on Republic Day! 
Today is also the twentieth anniversary of the Bhuj Earthquake-  the day which changed the course of earthquake engineering in India. Today is also the coming of age of SEFI. SEFI turns eighteen today and has earned  the driving license to take India into a brighter and  safer habitat. 


This year we have reached two milestones. From a paltry handful of members on January 26, 2003, we have reached, on this date,  the "grand silver" number- We are now  over 25,000 SEFIans- and counting.  And, most importantly, we did it our way!! All SEFIANs are equal and have an equal voice. 


We also realised that SEFI needs to be infused with young blood. To that effect, SEFI has inducted a new Trustee, Dr Jaswant Arlekar. Some of you may know him already. He straddles both fields - he is  a  practising structural consultant in Mumbai and is a well-respected educationist. We are so happy to welcome  our youngest Trustee  on board. 



We have some exciting surprises in store for you this year. Big Ones. Watch this space!

Happy Republic Day!

Very happy to note that on our 18th Anniversary, we have reached 25,000 members! Thank you and all others at SEFI for these achievements!

Welcome to the new young Trustee, Dr Jaswant Arlekar! Wish him and all of you all the best in 2021!

Looking forward to the other surprises too!

Dear Er. Alpa Sheth , and  Dr.  Subramanian ,

A very Happy  REPUBLIC DAY .

For us Structural Engineers this day is also  a reminder of  BHUJ EARTHQUAKE  in Gujarat . Some 20,000  lives were lost.

We have no choice but  to follow diligently  lessons leaned  from that earthquake and its application  on our profession .  Question is us (Structural Engineers)  and  Public Safety .  We can go to GSDMA site and get the all help we can get before we  put  up a next High Rise Building in Ahmedabad, Vadodara and Rajkot .
