Short Course for Civil Engineers and Professionals
on
Geotechnical Investigation for Structural Engineering
(18th 21st January, 2023)

Course Objectives:
The aim of the course is to abreast the participants A) with fundamentals and contemporary topics on expectations from Geotechnical Investigations for design of structures. B) International best practices. At the end of the course, the participants are expected to:
- Have an overall understanding about guidelines and requirements for geotechnical investigations for design of all types of structures such as buildings and bridges and Infrastructural facilities including transport, power, petrochemical, harbours and airports etc, to enable them to plan and direct the construction activity appropriately.
- Have a clear understanding of how to assess and interpret geotechnical investigation reports, to be able to execute a safe and economical design.
Participants:
The course is designed for, a) Civil Engineers, in particular Structural and Foundation Engineers engaged in design and execution of structures, b) Senior professionals responsible for directing these activities, c) Faculty and Students in Structural and Geotechnical engineering in academic institutions.

Structural Requirements and Geotechnical Investigation Plan, Reconnaissance of site and design options, Best Practices in Field testing; SPT, CPT, DCPT, Sampling, Laboratory Testing and Soil Parameters, Codal Provisions, Geotechnical Investigation Report and Interpretations, Recent developments enabling Foundation optimization to highlight the benefits from quality Geotechnical recommendations, Case Studies
Certificate:
Participants who successfully complete the course will be awarded a certificate.
Registration:
The course fee is Rs. 20,000/- plus 18% GST per participant. It includes course material, lunch, and tea breaks. The fee is payable in advance through the payment portal in the registration form. The postgraduate students and faculty of civil engineering may request a discount in course fee.
