Dear Sir,

1. What is the most popular software for design and analysis of bridges in India?
2. Is Courbon's method for load distribution acceptable for use. Are there any software/spreadsheets for this methodology?

Regards,
Vijay S

hii
there are too many software in which modelling of bridges can be done
but we have to keep always boundary condition of structure in mind
bridge can be modelled in STAAD also by considering grillage modelling with beam and column elements ....  but it is convenient to model superstructure and substructure seperately in STAAD . ....
another bentley product especially for bridge design is RM2006
which is very good for bridge modelling but it is not user friendly as STAAD
SAP V14 is also used for bridges modelling in india and europian country and it is also very user friendly as STAAD
some FEM product as LUSAS and ANSYS is also used for bridge modelling in india ..

Er Singh,
One of my profs in Andhra University used Staad for modelling bridges.
I have see that in IIT-M they use SAP along with other softwares.
I personally feel its easy in SAP.
