Dear sefians
There is gross negligence on part of architects to perceive the importance of structural consultancy as a result they are not willing to pay a decent fees for the consultancy. But it is unfortunate that some civil engineers themselves are not willing to pay a decent fees for the structural consultancy work and getting payment for the work done has become difficult sometime. This is an important issue which need to addressed for the well being of our community.

Dear Sefiens
This is regard to structural fee, at present, in futurestructural engineer’s life will be miserable, if we cannot take some steps aboutstandardization the fee format. The structural engineers are main role for the building like skeletonof the body, contractor is substantial the body with concrete, Architect andinteriors are dressing the body with imagination for decent appearance, butnobody knows that good viewing comes due to well-proportioned Skelton and nerveroot, so structural engineer is playing key role model for the building tostand to any shape, we spending lot of time in analysis, concept, detailing, but they are less paid
Even i agree , structural engineers, contractors, and architects are equally responsible for a building to come good shape, then fee of thetotal cost should be shared by equally all , since all are important but thisis not happening but contractors andarchitects making pretty good profit compared to structural engineers
We have to blame our structural engineers some time, whatever it is happened so far ,structural engineers is main role for building stability but project co-coordinators are more valuable andpaid more than structural engineers , and himself pedals the structuralengineers, in my view, projectcoordinator should be structural engineers, he should involve in the concept, tendering ,project coordinator, analysis, design, detailing part and siteissues ( GIVE RESPECT FOR EDUCTION)
Few large structural engineers firms quote the lessstructural fee and execute the work and they made decent profit turnover basedon large scalability concept, with less fee ( 3RS) for huge built up-areas butin other way, medium sized firm mark less profit , since they are paid less fee forsmall built up-areas, ultimately twofirms mark profit and other firms markless profit as a consequently structuralengineer’s paid less
In my view the building with built up area more than 1 lakh, the fee should be based on 10 % of total RCC cost of the building, same ascontractor, in this way we can save structural engineers
Thanks and Regards
