The water tank should not be placed on roof slab. The tank shall be placed atleast 2'6" (0.75m) above the roof slab. If columns are available they may be extended above the roof slab for resting the water tank. The size of water tank may be provided for 4.2 cum capacity. Provide 1.25m height of water tank. The size of water tank may be suitably decided based on position of water tank. The base slab shall be minimum 150mm to 200mm thick with double mats reinforcement. If preferable splay or haunch rods may be provided on four corners of base slab. The side wall may be supported on connecting beam at 0.75m above roof slab. The base slab may be cast monolith with supporting beam.The cover slab may be provided with 100mm thick slab with nominal reinforecement. Water load may be considered for base slab. The cover slab may be designed for 1.50KN/sqm. The side wall is designed for wind load.
The mix for water tank base slab shall be minimum M25 concrete. The side walls if constructed in masonry, 230mm thick in CM 1:4 and plastered with CM 1:3. Necessary water proof compound may added for base slab concrete for water tightness.
If side wall is in RCC, provide minimum 125mm thickness with one layer reinforcement.
