Dear Mr patel,
Thank you very much
I quote your letter and our response to the same

I am so happy that a conference has been organised on this subject. My
thanks to all concerned. I am new to the forum and have numerous questions
I would like to post but I will start with a site-related issue.
Quite often we recommend Fe500 TMT bars. However a few weeks into the
construction we are informed that there was amistake by the supplier and
the bars sent were really Fe 415.
This creates a lot of confusion and panic.
I was wondering if it is not possible for steel suppliers to create a
system of marking which clearly differentiates 415 from 500 steel. This
should be a standard system used by all manufacturers.

OUR RESPONSE
Tata steel Clearly EMBOSSES "TATA TISCON" for Fe 415, and "TISCON 500" for
Fe 500 at an interval of at most one meter on each bar.

It is also rather tragic that ever since Torsteel pretty much winded us,
there is no agency which provides a seal of quality conformance. As users
we do not know which are good mills to take TMTY bars from. It is not
always possible to buy steel form Tata, SAIL or Vizag steel as they are not
interested in small quanitites.

OUR RESPONSE
We do supply small quantities from our stock yards even to individual house
builders. We are a BIS Licensee and do provide a BIS Test Certificate for
every consignment.

I would appreciate if someone form Tata Steel whoa responsoring the
E-conference could respond to my queries.

Thanks,
Indranil Chakrabarti
