Dear Member,

Though these are not the topics, but the fields in which the 'evolved' structural market wants engineers to work in at application level.

Marine and offshore structures.
Dynamics and vibrations of equipment supports.
Damping alternatives in buildings.
New materials researched by market leaders.
Forensic engineering;
Retrofitting and rehabilitation;
Hazard and risks in Structural Engineering;

You may take up any problem related to mathematical modeling, optimization, design constraint problems, material properties; regulation and economics related to profession; carry-on component of previous thesis.

Grasp every latest proceeding in the structural magazines in your library and on the internet.

Make the list of the topics and discuss with your guide. If required ask your institute to get permission to access laboratory of other specialized institutes, if not available at your institute.

Other deciding factors : where would you like to work after the specialization- academics, consulting, research or proceeding further in business; Time frame for thesis;

You will do a great favor on your career and the profession if you avoid borrowed motivation.

All the best.
