Dear Mr.Zafar,

You may post the "Detailed Design results" of 1 beam both in ETABS
9.7.4 IS 800:1984 and ETABS13 IS800:2007. Design parameters also need to be compared.

Members in the forum can then suggest accordingly.

Dear Mr.Zafar,

If you are aware of difference between IS 800 2007 codes this would be simpler. In 2007 version the code has detailed description of the classification of the members, compact, semi compact and non compact sections.

Based on this i can infer that the parameters should be assigned properly and design has to be verified.

Kindly, check the following
1) Is 800 2007 in Etabs 2013 is for limit state method.Hence parameters are quite different
2) whether the section is compact or non compact

Er. Zafar,

Please Study the results of both the cases. Find out the parameter under which the members fail. Then it will be possible to identify the reasons for difference. The design guide lines of IS 800:2007 are based on limit state concepts and may be considered as latest/refined with inclusion of cross section classification, imperfection factors for columns & beams and exhaustive earthquake load combinations indicated under clause 12.2.3 etc. Results are to be studied with respect to all these issues.
