I am Civil engineering.
I don’t want work with materials like “Cement and Steel” as it is
basic it is using as long term and need to see update these materials
which follow to society growth & technology. Is there any changes
expected from civil engineer or any other citizen.
I am entered in civil engineering 16years back. and I am proud to be
civil engineer and working sincerely to civil engineering, but don’t
like civil engineering existing practices.
With Regards,
Tekuri Narasimhulu.

Dear Er. Tekuri,
Please do not loose your hope, affection and sincirity towards Civil / Structural Engineering. To introduce any +ve changes in society it requires 'efforts', 'patience' and 'time'. Think how many years it took for the world to accept the fact that the 'earth' is round after Aristotal proved it so !
Brick, clay, stone, aggregate, cements, Steel, timber are the basic material avaialble in nature, and in abundance, without much of a processing. So there are popular. The new engineering materials viz. alloys / composites / FRP / nono-materials / epoxies / fibers etc. are yet in a ivolving / developing phase. There are even costly. So will take time to establsih there properties and use in Industry. We senior engineers will have to keep trying to 'test' and 'refine' these materials and also keep trying to convince the customer about their 'use'.
Another point is 'Mentoring fresh engineers'; to maintain the continuity of your thoughts / work seniors must accept responsibility of Mentoring freshers / juniors !
