(Quality of Services) Professional Practice By An Engineer
Unfortunately,there exists virtually no scope for professional practice by any engineer in ours
Without qualifying subject related to professional practice, it is difficult to work on such practice
How many of us do care about those subjects, which involve professional practice?
Particularly,engineers involved on designing never care about that part of professional practice
Working exclusively on designs cannot help to achieve complete practice status
Even if there is statute for Engineers empowered for practice, Engineers do not care for practice syllabus
Practice involves not only structural designs, but also, various other subjects such as contracts, contract disputes resolution/ arbitration, legal matters working knowledge, communication skills, writing technical procedures etc.
I have never experienced on this forum any interest expressed by members to raise all such relevant issues
I have experienced overseas that structural engineers are equally interested to learn contract issues, specifications & technical documents issues
Those engineers force contractors to issue all procedures or method statements for various activities, prior to commence with such activity
Even method statements or form work, steel fabrication & fixing, as well as concrete pour for all major pours are required prior to commencement, while work can start only, after methods are approved
Engineers should realize that prosecution of execution of project is equally significant as production of quality designs
Plenty of office works are required on site offices, prior to carrying out works
A high degree of site based thoughts are contemplated for applications, which state leads to generation of many methods of work prosecution to chart out best option for execution
These methods are proposed by contractor & approved by consultant /engineer
Every activity & project is different & no generalization can be grouped for production of engineering documents
