3.5.5 While investigating the effect of earthquake forces, the resulting effect from dead loads of all cranes parked in each bay, positioned to cause maximum effect shall be considered.

the above clause is from IS800 -2007. can we understand while performing earthquake analysis the lifing load (say crane capacity 40ton) of crane need  not be  lumped in earth quake mass is correct or wrong.

please clarify sir

Hi Chramarao,

The self and carrying  load of the crane will be act as a dead load , so its total weight should consider as a lumped mass only in my view.
