We have to carry out excavation work for the construction of basement of a new building. The soil is clayey sand with ground water table at 1m below the existing ground level.
This new building with basement shall be constructed 4m away from an existing building which is founded on friction pile(details of pile like dia, depth, reinforcement are not available.)
It is observed that the excavation line of basement of new building shall be hardly 3.5m away from the friction piles of the existing building.
What type of protection systems ,you suggest for existing friction piles while we carry out basement exacavation hardly 3.5m away from the friction piles ?
Warm regards.

Hello Er Mallick
Confinement to the existing building's piles needs to be ensured before initiating excavation. Do you see cold form sheet piles feasible there to be installed?
Hope this is useful!

Thanks a lot Er. Kunal for your prompt reply. I would like to know in details the manufacturers of these piles, its design and cost estimate. _________________ P.K.Mallick
