Dear All,

Greetings!!

We have to design RCC enclosure for X ray Scanner (Energy 6MeV, Max dos rate -8.0 Gy/min), which will scan trucks, buses etc at Borders.

Kindly guide us about the relevant codes/guidelines of IAEA for the thickness of RCC Enclosure and grade & type of RCC.

Regards,
Ganesh Patel

Dear
X-Rays are less powerful than CT or PET scanner radiations. In PET Scanner room a thickness of 230 mm is sufficient so for X-Rays. Only the density of the concrete will matter. Achieve a density of 2.3 to 2.4 g/cc for the best results and M30

Dear Er.Ganesh Patel

Usually the Owners will have written directions from IAEA. This will fully apply to the specific case. You may ask the Owners, [who must have already obtained permission for installing the X-Ray Scanner]

Regarding medical X-ray rooms in hospital recently 230mm brick walls were permitted. The doors had to be provided with metal lining of specified thickness
