I was wondering since the stress strain diagram for concrete in both IRC 112and IS 456 is of rectangular parabolic type and stress strain diagram for steel is also similiar in IS 456 and IRC 112 (basic and seismic combination) , so the design for flexure and axial compression with bending should be similar in both cases.The difference I found was in design for shear ,torsion and punching shear.Also the checks for limit state of servicability is different in both codes. The design strain for steel in IRC 112 is 0.9∈yk while in is 456 it should be fy/1.15Es + 0.002 . But in SP105 (explaination to IRC 2011) worked out examples use the same method of calculating stress in reinforcement as IS 456 ,as in first calculating stress in extreme reinforcement according to design stress ie. 0.87fy and then using linear strain diagram to determine corresponding stresses in reinforcement in the interior of pier.
So the design for flexure and axial compression with bending should be similar in both cases, am i right?
