There have been many cases when the excavation of a new house is going on, the adjoining built houses experience some settlement and sometimes even the whole structure collapses. What is the best cost-effective preventive measure in such cases?

Dear Sefi  Engr. ,

Try ASCE Guide lines on Braced and Tie Back excavation .  Hope that helps .

Note :  Some times mistakes in Excavation near adjacent existing buildings/Structures are very expensive . See the posts on LEANING TOWER  OF  SAN FRANCISCO , CA, USA . This is a 58 story High Rise building leaning on one side due to adjacent excavation  not done right .

Regards.
