Dear All,

Just wanted to have all you Expert's insight on the design of foundation highlighted in the picture attached.

     The question is, whether -
1. To use uplift pressure A
or
2. To use uplift pressure B
or
3. Any other suggestion

in the picture.

We've used uplift pressure B for the foundation design of part highlighted; please do rectify our understanding, preferably with reasons.

Please note:
The project is located in Mumbai, India.

Thanking you in anticipation.

Dear Engr.  Ashwin_gade ,
My Foundation Professor taught me , when you have bottom of Foundation well below top of  Water Table  as you have   in your case , go for  LOAD  BEARING  PILE FOUNDATION ( PILE  WELL ANCHORED  IN  ROCK ) .
Structural Engineer who work on PORT  AND MARRINE  structures always have water of the Sea all the time  ,  they have only one option , LOAD BEARING  PILE FOUNDATION  ( PILE WELL ANCHORED IN ROCK ). For Lateral Load Loads they used Battered, or Sloping Piles  but still anchored in Rock .
Anchoring in Rock will give you UPIFT CAPACITY  of  Pile Foundation .
Of course in  Load Bearing Pile Foundation scheme a good % of total Structural Cost of the project is in Foundation , and when you tell  your CLIENT how much your Load Bearing Pile Foundation scheme will cost the project , he may like to kill you , but that is  O.K. .

Regards .
