Hello Sefians,

I have a building where steel structure is resting on my column/pedestal (0.7*0.7*1.5 m high).  In a load combination (0.9DL+Wind) there is high axial tension acting on concrete column, in the same load combination there is bending (fixed bottom) acting in both direction.
For direct tension i have calculated reinf., assuming only steel resists tension.
But i am confused how to design for the combination when i have direct tension and biaxial moment acting at the same time?
My point is when there is tension(axial), concrete is assumed to be cracked, then at any section of column, there can't be compression block.
Without compression block, how do i calculate interaction of forces combined together?


Or am i missing something?

Your valuable advice is needed.
