in a beam or Column cross section , how should i decide, the provided number of bars will not be posing problem of Congestion while concrete pouring and Compacting?
Are there any thumb rules/guidelines/Codal Provisions for how much space is to be left in the Beam or Column cross section such that Concrete can be poured and compacted without any congestion?

In addition to the provisions of Cl.26 of IS 456 : 2000, the clear spacing of the top longitudinal reinforcement bars in a beam shall be such that the needle of the immersion vibrator used can easily pass through the gap. This may necessitate placing of the top bars in more than one layer, for heavily reinforced beams. The needles are available in 25mm, 40mm, 50mm, or 60 mm diameter.
