Dear Er.  karansoha,

I design high rise buildings in USA . Each city has its own Building Code or mostly they ADOPT  INTERNATIONAL  BUILDING  CODE (  IBC) .  Adopted city building code gives you limits on DRIFT  and INTERSTORY  DRIFT INDEX . We have to meet  city building code  if you want to get a CONSTRUCTION  PERMIT  and  construct the Structure . I do not understand your question .

Regards.

Thanks VPandya Sir,
I want to know that if I limits the value of drift index and inter storey drift, is there any parameter which won't satisfy our design criteria?
Is there any such exceptional case while designing our building with Indian Standards?
