Hello Everyone,
it is my query with respect to water tank seismic force consideration.
IS1893:2014(Part2) recommends Consideration of force in critical direction or Apply 100%+30% Rule.

Critical Direction of force is suggested by IITK EQ-08.

My Question is -
If in the design i am considering force direction as per atatcehd fig.( IITK EQ-0Cool, do i also need to apply 100%+30% Rule.

Is there any IS/BS/ACI code/Paper which is in support of this ?

Just a personal viewpoint

Irrespective of provisions , it is better to check the important  structures like Overhead water tanks  for the structural stability & safety  ,  components adequacy .

100% EQ (x horz*)+ 100% EQ (y vertical )
(* str being symmetrical in plan about center point , EQ z horz  need not be checked)

100% EQ (x ) + 30% EQ ( z) + 30% EQ(y)

Also please refer IS code IS 11682  on ' CRITERIA FOR DESIGN OF RCC  STAGINGS FOR OVERHEAD WATER TANKS '.
