Hello All,
I need your help regarding 'Fire Load Calculation'. There is going to be a RCC fire wall near a transformer. Apart from wind load and self weight, there will be fire load acting on it. I would like to know which IS code is to be referred for calculating the load due to fire? Will it be considered as 'Live Load'? I also want to know how this fire load is being calculated. References to the literatures are also welcome.
Please help me.
Thank you.
With Regards,

Just a view - may not be in line
Fire Load :-
Fire effects on a structure are well known and structure is designed to withstand high temperatures for specified period of time viz 2 hrs, 4 hrs so on.
NBC (SP-7) provides in detail the thickness of Rcc walls,, clear cover to reinf and protective layer in form of refractory bricks, tiles , other protective measures etc.
Transformer enclosure walls needs to be designed for Gravity,, wind /EQ loadings plus transformer blast plus Fire protection measures,,
Hope to have more apt opinion s |
