Dear Friends,

It is my pleasure to announce the International Workshop on Seismic Isolation. The conference details are provided below:

Date and time:
3rd of June 2024, 8:30 am to 6:15 pm

Event website:
www.manishkumar.org/SI2024

Registration link:
International Workshop on Seismic Isolation

Location:
VMCC, IIT Bombay, Powai, Mumbai 400076

Guest speakers:

Lectures shall be delivered by experts from multiple countries (India, US, UK and Taiwan): Andrew Whittaker (SUNY at Buffalo), Durgesh Rai (IIT Kanpur), Vasant Matsagar (IIT Delhi), Yin-Nan Huang (NTU & NCREE), S. D. Bharti (MNIT Jaipur), Manish Kumar (IIT Gandhinagar), Shoma Kitayama (Brunel University), and Manish Kumar (IIT Bombay)

Event background and scope:

Recent earthquakes around the world have highlighted the importance of building infrastructure beyond the life-safety performance. Seismic isolation is an effective technology for safety of structures against earthquake that can ensure continued functionality and operational performance of critical structures (e.g., hospitals, bridges, operation control buildings, data centres, nuclear power plants) during major earthquakes to assist in relief and recovery operations. The BIS has recently published the first IS code on Base Isolated Buildings (IS1893-Part 6: 2022) completing an important step in the implementation of the seismic technology in India. This workshop brings experts from multiple countries to a single platform to develop diverse and comprehensive understanding of seismic isolation systems. The workshop will discuss design and applications of different seismic isolation systems to structures as per relevant codes and guidelines. The performance assessment of seismically isolated structures shall be presented using deterministic and probabilistic methods to allow better understanding of performance expected during an earthquake.

Who should attend:

Representatives from government bodies, industry professionals, academicians, and students. People involved with implementation, design, construction, and maintenance of seismically vulnerable and operationally critical structures where seismic isolation can potentially be used.

Registration and payment details:

Early bird registration ends on 15th of May. The last day of registration is 31st May. Spot registration facility is not available. Registration and payment details are available here.
