Although it's too early to properly ascertain the root cause, this pic shows shear failure in the plate Joint. Also the Pin cannot be seen.
And Internally the joint seems to have rusted. Any other opinions you all have?

STEEL STRUCTURE ROOF  COLLAPSE AT T1

As per reports :
Constructed in 2009.
Agency constructed is renowned one.

Causes of failure :-
Water loading at down slope end,, probably, due to chokage of Rain water Gutters / RWP.
Plus
Rusting of supporting steel structure / joints due to no inspection  / Poor or No maintenance on  non visible portions of steel members/ joints.

Overall assessment :- Poor / No maintenance in non visible portions of structure
Heavy Live load in form of water accumulation at downslope end causing  rusted / or otherwise members to giveaway incld joints,

Steel structures sloping roofs are designed for maximum LLof 75 kg/m2 only.
Steel syructures are more susceptible to heavy wind storms  but in present case,, wind was not much.
Just a viewpoint,, may be some other reasoning,, other sefi
members may kindly enlighten,
