Dear Sefians,
Generally for seismic design of steel structures the joints are designed considering the response reduction factor to be 1. (i.e the joints are designed for total lateral force without any reduction). Such a methodology is considered so that the joints does not yield, or the hinge formation is not at the joint.
I would like to know whether the same analogy can be assumed to be applicable for the slab column connection of the flat slab structure. If this is the case should all the slab column connections be designed for full seismic force (R=1)??
What sort of detailing has to be adopted for slab column interface?
