Shoe footing or L- type footing
This type of footing provided due to property line constraints must be tied
to an internal column through s strap beam otherwise the inherent eccentricity
of column load ,being at an edge wrt CL footing will cause hevy moment
on footing which may not be possible to counteract and almost entire
footing will be in lifted state . Some reliefs offered by edge wall thru
passive resistance of soil at back as also reiief due to presence
X wall at that location( if any )can be taken . UH Varyani 's paper/book
could be reffered for understanding.
The BM on column at its base may have adverse or helping effect
depending on its direction at base
Try to provide rectangular footing with larger dimension along edge wall
to minimise ecc of column load wrt to CL footing. This will reduce the
moment in the strap beam greatly.
Shoe footings are very effective for Isolated canopies /porticos on columns
as in that case footing receive counteraction direcly from column moment
which is euqilibrium moment (Footings must shoe towards canopy direction)
