If we study the history of structural engineering we may see drastic changes in the structures built.
But in reality the structural engineering design almost remains the same, only thing we have advanced is how to accurately predict the load and convert it to either equivalent compression or tension force for design.
One may point out that there is lot of advancement, there are so many new types of structures built, new composite materials are being used etc etc.But one thing is for sure, the structural engineering advancement is just the refinement of the basic physics.
Hence, there is no major change in the engineering it self , only change is that the formulation.
