Dear Colleagues:

Ref. my announcement of yesterday. I want to clarify:

a)For English version, please write to Mr. Srinivasan
(psrinivasan@acccement.com) and do not write to NICEE. Also, please do not
send copy of your email to NICEE.

b) For Hindi version, write to NICEE (nicee@iitk.ac.in). In that case,
please mention clearly that you want Hindi version.

I am told by Mr. Srinivasan that he has received a huge number of requests
and that it may take two to three weeks for you to receive you copy. Please
do not send him reminders.

Regards,

SKJ

Subject: IAEE Guidelines for Earthquake Resistant Non-Engineered
Construction

Dear Colleagues:

You may be familiar with an important publication of the International
Association for Earthquake Engineering (IAEE) entitled, “Guidelines for
Earthquake Resistant Non-Engineered Construction.” This publication provides
in simple language the basics of earthquake safety features for new
buildings and repair and retrofitting of old buildings.

A soft copy of this manual is available at NICEE web site: www.nicee.org.
Also, after the Gujarat earthquake of 2001, the ACC Ltd had printed copies
for free distribution. Interested persons may request a free copy from the
ACC by writing to Sri P Srinivasan of ACC. His email address is:
psrinivasan@acccement.com

The National Information Centre of Earthquake Engineering (NICEE) has now
published a Hindi translation of the above manual. Interested persons may
request a free copy by sending full postal address to: nicee@iitk.ac.in

A soft copy of the Hindi version will be available at NICEE web site
shortly.

Thanking you,

Sudhir K Jain
Coordinator, NICEE
